GRASS offers a pixel-based unsupervised classification and a supervised classification procedure for raster layers with 8bit resolution. Additionally we can use another supervised classification algorithm called “SMAP - sequential maximum a posteriori - estimation”. This classification will consider also geometric neighborly resemblances. This leads to an improvement of the classification results. The SMAP module accepts also only one single channel.
