Small history of AWF-Wiki

01.05.2010:

A MediaWiki installation was set up by User:Fehrmann who initiated AWF-Wiki at the Chair of Forest Inventory and Remote Sensing at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.

20.04.2011:

The lecture notes and a QGIS tutorial for our course "Remote sensing and image processing with open source software" are now completely available. Up to now we counted more than 50.000 views in our Wiki.

02.05.2011:

We are working on the section Forest Inventory lecture notes. AWF-Wiki was presented to the actual Bachelor students. We have more than 78.000 page hits.

12.06.2011:

Lecture notes in forest inventory completed.

16.06.2011:

We reached more than 100.000 page hits!

08.12.2012:

We reached more than 700.000 page hits!

  • Coming soon: a special issue on MRV in context of REDD+: How can IPCC Guidelines and national REDD requirements be translated into meaningful planning criteria for national forest inventories?
  • It is planned to implement lecture notes on remote sensing during the next winter term. Limited funds are granted by the Faculty of Forest Science and Forest Ecology. As these funds are tuition fees of our students, they will be allocated to create course relevant content only! We will further enhance many articles in the Forest Inventory and Forest Mensuration lecture notes.

  • Course data for the QGIS tutorial can now be downloaded from Course data (files are revised in the moment, they will be available soon). Our tutorial is now ready to use for the next semester. We will revise all articles during the next winter term and adapt all relevant content to the actual version of QGIS. We also implemented a navigation that helps to organize the content in a chronological manner. Fehrmann 15:19, 29 August 2011 (CEST)
